Awarded terrace roof system

heroal OR terrace roof system wins German Design Award 2021 - heroal has once again won the German Design Award. This year the aluminium system provider has won the “Excellent Product Design” category with the heroal OR terrace roof system.

Timeless design, with impressive 7-metre spans, a wide range of combination options thanks to harmoniously integrated all-glass sliding doors and sun protection elements, along with simple, time-saving processing and installation – these features characterise the heroal OR terrace roof system and are what convinced the jury of the German Design Award. “With its clear, formal construction the terrace roof has an altogether modern and high-quality aesthetic. It can be used with many different architectural styles and configured flexibly to meet individual requirements. An attractive solution, which also works without a central support”, was the jury’s explanation. At heroal there is much rejoicing at this new award, as Malte Morgenroth, Roofing Systems Product Manager, explains: “We’re proud to have developed heroal OR, a terrace roof system that corresponds so well with current trends. In discussion with fabricators, architects and private builders, the wish for a versatile roofing system that can be individualised yet also offers optimal processing, was often voiced. We have succeeded in meeting this brief with heroal OR and so we are all the more pleased to have this innovation honoured by the German Design Council.”

The heroal OR terrace roof system

With its concealed rafter heads, the heroal OR canopy system represents a complete solution in cubic design. With the heroal OR Slim Line (SL) and heroal OR Grand Line (GL) variants, terrace roofing can be made to suit any application – and both variants are processed in the same way. With impressive 7-metre spans , heroal OR GL provides for unrestricted open panoramic areas, making an optimal use of space. heroal OR SL, on the other hand, captivates thanks to its significantly slimmer support construction, which embodies lightness and modernity, and creates an extraordinary outdoor space.

The various extension systems, such as the horizontal UV protective heroal HS, the vertical UV protective heroal VS Z OR and the heroal S 20 C all-glass sliding door system, make the use of outdoor areas possible whatever the weather.

heroal fabricators benefit from lower storage costs, shorter production times and easier installation, thanks to the reduced number of components. In order to offer maximum flexibility and optimised production capacities, heroal OR terrace roofs can also be purchased in prefabricated kit form.

About the German Design Award

The German Design Award is a premium international prize that the German Design Council has given out annually since 2012. In an elaborate nomination process, experts from various German Design Council committees choose a select range of products and communication design services to participate, which they see as clearly standing out from the competition due to the quality of their design. The award winners are selected by a jury made up of design experts from across the fields of business, academia and science, as well as from within the design industry itself. The official German Design Award 2021 presentation will take place on 19 February 2021 in Frankfurt.
